Food and Drink for the Journey - recipes

One of the best things about being on my journey is all the food and drink I come across!  Here are some of the recipes of dishes you may have read about on my blog.

This is the fantastic salad my brother Rod made.  This is the same brother I wrote about when we ate "Spiessbraten" from Idar-Oberstein.

A King's Ransom Salad or Rob a Bank Salad (Packed with Flavor)

Dressing:
2T fine chopped shallots
1T fine chopped garlic
2/3 Cup White wine vinegar
1T Dijon mustard
1t sea salt
1/2 - 3/4 Cup Pure Maple Syrup
1/2 - 3/4 Cup Agave Syrup
Fresh ground black pepper to taste
3/4 Cup EV Olive oil
Taste if too sour add more syrup, if not snappy enough add vinegar. Blend again.

Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor except oil. drisel to infuse and emusify the oil. Makes enough for a huge salad. Either save future salad or cut in half.

Salad:

Two bags of Spring mix or just a good mix of deep green purple and good variety
1lb. thick sliced bacon (I use black pepper bacon) but hickory cured would also be good. (cut into bits (Vertically) before frying).
1/2 pound crumpled blue cheese
6-8 oz craisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
